About me

I am a critical political economist, and I am currently employed as a Lecturer in Global Political Economy (Teaching & Scholarship) at the University of Leeds. Prior to working at Leeds, I held an IPE Fellowship at the London School of Economics. I also taught at the University of Birmingham and at SOAS University. I received my PhD in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Birmingham in 2022.

Research and teaching trajectory

I study the political economy of governing tactics and legitimation strategies, and how they relate to economic and climate policy, with particular interest in Britain and France. In short, I am interested in how and why the state safeguards and legitimises the status quo, and the consequences that this has for the economy and the green transition. My work has been published in leading academic outlets including Environmental Politics, Geoforum and Competition & Change.

In the last five years, I have taught widely across a range of flagship political economy and environmental politics modules at Leeds, LSE, the University of Birmingham and SOAS. My research-led critical pedagogy applies, contextualises and debates the insights of cutting-edge scholarship to the teaching of global economic governance and environmental policy.

My commitment to teaching and to students’ learning outcomes also feeds into my own research. In the classroom, I expose my students to my research in order to engage them and have them challenge my works in progress and current ideas I am developing. Read more about my pedagogical approach here.
